Am i teaching or am i sharing?

I don’t really consider myself teaching when I’m in class. To me, it is more towards sharing experience between a lecturer and students. Although I’m a lecturer, on daily basis I really need to produce photograph that able quench my thirst towards my interest.

Sometimes, my students are better than me in certain aspect. We share everything and we completed each other. Photojournalism is mainly related to people. As a photojournalist, I really love to study people emotion and reaction as a subject matter. I could felt their feelings; I would like to know what they're thinking about.

It is a huge responsibility for photojournalist to document the event that happens today. Everything documented are for the next generation and they’re responsible to continue the legacy for generation after them. We know nothing of what happen in the past without documented visual or information.

A lecturer should respect a students in order to gain respects from others...

PHOTGRAPHERS AND POLITICS

This is a routine of a photographers job who's working with a company.
1. Received assignment from his/her superior for tomorrow.
2. Prepare all the necessary equipments.
3. Shoot the event or assignment.
4. Download and do the necessary retouching needed.
5. Upload the files
6. Job is done

Recently, photographers are tend to get themselves involved in politics. This is not politics which involved political parties. To be exact, office politics. Whatever that i wrote are from my experience or observation and information from my colleagues working from several companies. The new routine :

1. Received assignment from his/her superior for tomorrow.
2. Call other people and talk bad about the boss. Argue, why he/her was not given a better assignment
3. Prepare all the necessary equipments.
4. So equipment oriented. Always think that by getting new equipments would be able to produce good photographs. Staff never think about the reason for not purchasing new equipments.
3. Shoot the event or assignment. While shooting, still talking about office politics and keep on talking about his/her superior.
4. Download and do the necessary retouching needed. While downloading, he/her still negatively talk bad about he/her office politics and boss.
5. Upload the files. While uploading, he/her continuously talk bad about he/her office politics and boss.
6. Job is done. Not really. Go for teh tarik and continuously talking about his/her office matters.

Being a boss or managing a group of people wasn't easy. There's nobody in this world ask to hated by others. Always think about what contribution that a person could give. Stop thinking or anticipate what your boss would do wrong. In my honest opinion, photographers and politics doesn't goes along. Just do your job and go home be happy about it.

Stay positive, keep that positive aura within you...

COMMUNICATION!COMMUNICATION!COMMUNICATION

Communication is definitely one of the key to effective success. As a photographer, myself has failed to communicate effectively when i started.I tend to assume what is needed by my clients and assume what my printer will do to completed the task rather than have a decent discussion.

I've learned in many ways during my years as photographer. For example, i did an assignment in 2003 without having a prior discussion. I tend to assume what my clients requirement for this particular assignment. I end up producing visual that is far from my clients requirements. It is frustrating because i already spent more than 2 days for it.That haven't included the amount of money that I've to spent.I was ask to re shoot this assignment or the client would've to hire other photographer. It is an embarrassment for a photographer. It could also damage a photographer reputation.

I'm really careful nowadays when it comes dealing with clients. I'll make sure some form of communication do happens before i decided to accept or execute any assignments. It is also important to communicate with your co-worker or other photographer that you met during your assignments. Sometimes, you might needed help from other to execute the same assignments. Another example is, you might needed help form another photographer to borrow some batteries. If you don't communicate before hand, do you think the photographer willing to help you. He might and he might not. Just a friendly advice to everybody, do communicate with your clients and others.

Again, communicate!communicate!communicate!

Photography- The Beginning

I've just started to blog. Wait for some issues to be discussed online.

Being a photographer has given me the opportunity to see and the ability to freeze the moment so that i would be able to see it once again.

Today, there's a lot of photographer or photographer wannabe. What ever it is, i would seriously encourage anyone who's in photography line to be all out. Photographers need direction and goals in life in order to succeed. It is important to set your mind in what do you actually wanted in life as a photographer. I also started 14 years ago on the same page. Clueless and not knowing where or what to do with my career.

Talking to more senior people in this field, really open up my mind towards the great possibilities of this field. Until today, i consider myself still learning and willing to share the knowledge that I've gather through out the years.

I've no intention to offended anybody with my writing. More towards sharing and encouraging others to do well in this line.

In order to be great, you must be great at communicating with others.
